The Precipice (Book Review)

Australian author Virginia Duigan has a new novel out;  it’s a frightening mix of realism and madness. Retired school principal , Thea Farmer, is forced to sell her beautiful house in the Blue Mountains; the buyers, a young couple and their 12 year old niece become her neighbours, her friends and then her opponents… in an imaginary war between right and wrong. But is it imaginary – or does Thea have real grounds for her fears for the child’s safety?

A compelling mystery and a great example of what a talented author can do, manipulating the reader’s reactions using the technique of an unreliable narrator.

I ‘d also recommend Duigan’s earlier novel,The Biographer, another great read with plenty  of ‘secrets and lies’ to uncover!
