Books and reading for NYR

The National Year of Reading begins in 2012. The official launch is on February 14th, but start reading now. The first project is to describe “Our story”, to find a book that helps us to understand ‘what it means to be Australian.’ Vote for one of the six titles chosen to represent your state (South Australian choices include Kerryn Goldsworthy’s Adelaide and Peter Goldsworthy’s Three Dog Night.) Or make your own suggestions here.

What about Colin Thiele’s wonderful books? The Fire in the Stone, Blue Fin, and Storm Boy.. All truely South Aussie, and also so quintessentially Australian..
