here here! I will miss your posts! I think the National Year of Reading should be extended permanently and be called a National Life of Reading!!
But you have certainly made a great contribution to Adelaide Uni’s celebration of ‘the book’ in whichever form we choose to read it..

Oh Jennifer, thank you! Thanks for the award (do you think I could pop it on my CV?!!) and thanks for the book reviews; you’ve introduced me to wonderful new books and authors, including Benjamin Black, Kerryn Goldsworthy and Anne Funder. I’ll miss Reading Women for sure.

Wow! Now that’s something! I’d love to hear the readings by Kim Cattrall… It’s interesting that my first thought was that £9.99 is way too much for an app, but when you consider the phenomenal amount of material that is included, it puts the price in perspective. Sounds like an amazing app.

Cats Eye is still my favourite Margaret Atwood book . I dont think its quite the same now, but when I grew up, children inhabited their own world, and adults theirs. Adults weren’t really interested in the small dramas of kids lives, and there was no point in complaining about anything, for instance if a teacher or anyone bullied you. adults would just say, ‘ well ,you must have done something to deserve it’ . I read it a long time ago, but I seem to remember that Margaret Atwood captures exactly this in the book. I also think that this is why so much child abuse was never reported…no one listened!
It’s a riveting read, but one I’m not sure I want to revisit!
